An Author’s Message of Hope in Translation

By Avery Fischer Udagawa, Bangkok

Japanese children’s author Noriko Kudoh wrote a message of hope to young readers after the March 11 Tohoku disasters. SCBWI Tokyo Translation Group member Sako Ikegami translated the message into English; her translation was posted at Kudoh’s blogsite and on the children’s blog Here and There Japan, which is authored by Annie Donwerth Chikamatsu of SCBWI Tokyo.

Kudoh’s message on Here and There Japan has been mentioned on the Paper Tigers blog and on Amy Bowllan’s Writers Against Racism blog at School Library Journal.
