The Summer 2013 issue of the SCBWI Japan chapter newsletter, Carp Tales, is available for download here. As editor, I am pleased to announce that it once again offers interesting reading for translators, including

  • Avery Fischer Udagawa’s recount of the translation seminar at the 2013 Asian Festival of Children’s Content,
  • Alexander O. Smith’s reflective article on his translation career, “Translating From Wherever,”
  • and member news highlighting the translation successes of Juliet Winters Carpenter and Deborah Iwabuchi.

This is the last edition of Carp Tales that will be published in PDF format, but I look forward to seeing more contributions from translators as we move Carp Tales into a new format for our Winter 2014 issue.
