Meet-ups, Online and Off

By Avery Fischer Udagawa, Bangkok

I spent last week in the Tokyo area, visiting family and offering a translator visit at an international school. I also met with members of SCBWI Japan Translation Group. Nothing like talking shop!

One topic we discussed was the new SCBWI international website, which has just launched. So has a new website for SCBWI Japan. Both sites offer spaces for member translators to post profiles and describe their work. The sites also give info on events, grants, publishing resources, and more.

When it comes to sharing ideas, there is nothing quite like an offline get-together. Japan-based translators have access to more such events in coming months. Meanwhile, it is terrific to have the new websites as information and communication centers. Grab a cup of coffee and stop by soon!
